Each member district school board appoints one of their elected members to serve on the East Metro Integration District school board, which is known as the Joint Powers Board. This board establishes pertinent policies, accountability measures, and communication links among districts, district staff, and EMID program staff. Its primary purpose is to support the consortium's mission.

Our mission is...

to provide for the creation of a Joint Powers School District which shall govern and manage the construction and/or operation of joint-use educational facilities, programs, and services to benefit learners of the member districts and foster voluntary, interdistrict integration among East Metro urban and suburban school districts.

Our goals are...

• To provide guidance, continuity, and consistency in the governance and decision-making process for the EMID school board, staff, and administration.
• To maximize the collaborative potential of EMID for creating integrated learning opportunities for member districts.
• To strengthen relationships between EMID and members of its learning community by articulating its mission, goals, and programs.
