Welcome to my Teacher Space page. I am the Harambee Elementary School Math Specialist. The main part of my job is to give extra support to students who need help in math. I work mostly with students in grades 1-5. We are using an instructional program called Do The Math created by Marilyn Burns, a highly respected expert in the field of mathematics teaching. This program was specifically designed for students who struggle with math or are beginning to fall behind their peers. The goal is to help students get back on track so they can be successful in their regular math classes.
This is my 12th year at Harambee, and my 20th year of teaching. I graduated from Mankato State University with Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education and earned my master's degree from Hamline University. I live in North Branch with my husband Dave and 2 dogs, Buddy and Gretchen. My favorite pastimes are birding, reading, drawing and sewing.
Class Notes
I meet with students in a small group setting, with 4-5 students per group. Groups meet 3-5 times per week for 45-50 minutes in addition to their regular math classes.
If you have a child who works with me or one of the other math intervention staff members and would like to know more about what we're currently working on, or what you can do at home to help, please contact me. I'd love to hear from you!
